AUSTRIE TO HOLD CLINICS
CRAIG AUSTRIE TO PROVIDE IN SEASON SKILLS CLINICS TO MAVERICK TEAMS
02/06/2012

Craig Austrie, a 2009 graduate of the University of Connecticut and former Gatorade High School Player of the Year out of Trinity Catholic, will hold in-season skills clinics for Connecticut Mavericks teams this season.

Austrie, who runs "Craig Austrie's Basketball IQ Skills" will hold three clinics per team throughout the 2012 season and share fundamentals and skills with the Connecticut Maverick players and coaches.

"Craig is an exciting addition to the Maverick program and we're thrilled to welcome him," Program Director Kyle Lyddy said. "This is a unique situation where a former in-state star comes back and is able to share his wealth of basketball knowledge and experiences to players who are itching to learn."

Austrie, who played for UConn from 2005-2009, was the starting point guard during UConn's 2009 Final Four season.

"Everyone who knows Craig, knows he is a class act on and off the court," Lyddy said. "Watching him grow as a player at UConn, he was easily the single hardest working player I bumped in to while in Storrs."

Lyddy was an undergraduate team manager the four years that Austrie was at UConn.

"This is one of the things that will set the Mavericks program apart from other AAU programs throughout the state," Lyddy continued. "We're hoping to continue to slowly and effectively make this program about the full experience for these players and their families. This is a good start for us."
